The closing concert of Festival Gitaar aan de Sluis brings East Meets West to life in a programme that travels from Greece and the Balkans to Spain and the heart of the European classical tradition.
Spanish guitarist Álvaro Toscano, known for his expressive playing, imagination and rich palette of colours, takes the audience into the musical world of Spain. Croatian guitarist Filip Mišković, with his powerful musical personality and strong sense of rhythm and colour, brings the rhythms, melodies and sound world of the Balkans to the stage. The two guitarists also share a remarkable distinction: both have won First Prize at the Francisco Tárrega and Andrés Segovia international guitar competitions. After their individual programmes, Toscano and Mišković come together as a duo in the music of Beethoven.
The evening opens with special guest Filippos Manoloudis, performing 10 Miniatures by Greek composer Giannis Konstantinidis — a fascinating meeting of Greek traditional melodies and French-inspired impressionistic harmonies.
From Mediterranean colours and Balkan sounds to the music of Vienna, this festive finale brings different musical traditions together through the sound of the guitar.

Who is Álvaro? Álvaro Toscano has built an international career as a soloist and recitalist, performing across Europe, the Americas and Africa. As a soloist, he has appeared with orchestras including the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville. His album Crystal, awarded the Melómano de Oro, reflects his distinctive artistic identity and particular affinity for improvisation. Find out more about Álvaro Toscano on his website.
Who is Filip? Filip Mišković is one of Croatia’s leading young guitarists, performing as a soloist at renowned concert halls and with orchestras across Europe. Most recently, he won the Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition, adding to an impressive list of distinctions. In 2025, he was named Young Musician of the Year by the Zagreb Philharmonic. He has performed at venues including the Musikverein in Vienna and Kings Place in London. Who is Filippos? Filippos Manoloudis has a particular affinity for Classical and Romantic repertoire on historical instruments, performing, among others, on an original 1831 Stauffer guitar. In 2026, he won the Concerts in America International Concert Artist Competition, securing an international tour for 2027. He is currently studying in Geneva with Judicaël Perroy.
