Duo Kontaxakis/Ivanovic has arguably discovered how two guitars can sound like a true orchestra with their transcriptions of Mussorgsky’s Picture Exhibition and a Rossini’s opera for guitar duo. In addition, the duo focuses on Astor Piazzolla’s passionate music.
Recently recognized as “the best guitar duo of our time” (Westfalen Post & Professional Audio Magazine, Germany). Duo Kontaxakis/Ivanovich has been often invited to perform at international festivals and concert halls across Europe.
In particular, their impressive transcription of Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky for two guitars has been received with sheer enthusiasm, as their interplay, harmony and timing were characterised by critics as unparalleled. They released their debut CD entitled “Les Deux Amis” in 2010, a recording that is internationally acclaimed for the musical and virtuoso playing of the duo.
Finally, Croatian guitarist Antonio Persak, who recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire with the highest distinction and a 10 (!) for his final exam, will open the concert performing on the Spanish guitar.
